A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF SECTION 8 HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS, IN THE PROJECTED AMOUNT OF SIX MILLION, ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-THREE THOUSAND AND 00/100 DOLLARS ($6,123,000.00) FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE, AND THE PROJECTED AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY-SEVEN THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED AND 00/100 DOLLARS ($587,500.00) FOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION FOR A TOTAL PROJECTED AMOUNT OF SIX MILLION, SEVEN HUNDRED TEN THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED AND 00/100 DOLLARS ($6,710,500.00) FOR FISCAL YEAR (“FY”) 2026-2027 ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (“HUD”); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, SUBJECT TO ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS THAT REGULATE THE USE OF SUCH FUNDS, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF SECTION 8 HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS WHEN MADE AVAILABLE.

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) has advised the City that the projected allocation for the Section 8 Housing Program for Fiscal Year (“FY”) 2026-2027 is available in the amount of Six Million, One Hundred Twenty-Three Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($6,123,000.00) for rental assistance payments and the projected amount of Five Hundred Eighty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($587,500.00) for program administration, for a total projected amount of Six Million, Seven Hundred Ten Thousand, Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($6,710,500.00); and
WHEREAS, the numbers stated herein are projections, and the City Administration may need to adjust the numbers once released by HUD; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Administration recommends the acceptance of Section 8 Funds for FY 2026-2027 in the total estimated amount of Six Million, Seven Hundred Ten Thousand, Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($6,710,500.00);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The acceptance of Section 8 Housing Program funds in the projected amount of Six Million, One Hundred Twenty-Three Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($6,123,000.00) for rental assistance and the projected amount of Five Hundred Eighty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($587,500.00) for program administration, for a total projected amount of Six Million, Seven Hundred Ten Thousand, Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($6,710,500.00) for FY2026-2027, is authorized.
Section 3. These allocations will be adjusted in direct proportion to the actual allocation of Section 8 funds provided by HUD for the FY 2026–2027.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized¹to execute any and all necessary documents for said purpose.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature by theMayor.
